dynamicWatch Premium lets you group your routes into named collections. You might, for example, create collections for:
- 2-3 Hour Rides
- France and Italy 2021
- Centuries and Gran Fondos
- 5k Trail Runs
- Hikes within 1 Hour Drive
- Gravel Rides
- Club Routes
- Colorado 14ers
A route can be in more than one collection, so a 40 mile gravel route, for example, might be in both “Gravel Rides” and “2-3 Hour Rides”.
Then when you’re looking for a ride, you can just go to a collection, and instantly pick the route you want to set as your “current active route” for the dwMap or routeCourse app on your Garmin watch or Edge GPS, or for the mapField and Rain & Wind custom data fields.
🆕 This capability is now also available in the dwMap Phone Companion App!
When you are viewing your list of routes on your https://dynamic.watch/ home page (or in your routes Archive) those that are in collections have a gray number badge showing how many collections they are in. When you click on a route to view its preview, the collections are shown as gray name badges.
Putting a route into a collection is as simple as choosing “Add to Collection” from the route’s popup menu, or use the new Bulk Edit button to add a set of routes instantly to one or more collections.
When you save a new route in the Route Planner you can choose to immediately add it one of your collections, in the Save Route popup when you press the Save button.
You can also add routes to collections right from your linked accounts such as Ride with GPS, Strava and Under Armour (MapMyRun/MapMyRide) using our new Browse Linked Accounts' Routes feature.
You can view all of the routes in the collection together on an interactive, 3D map with the Map View button:
You can add a heatmap of all the routes in any of your route collections as a transparent orange overlay on the map while you work in Planner. These Planner Heatmaps then act as a guide for which roads and trails you like to use: you can rapidly click to build routes using these same roads/trails -- or perhaps for variety you'll use them to find roads that you've not yet used in a route.
A collection can have an inspiring or memorable banner photo, and you can add notes to help you keep track of the collection’s purpose and contents.
Finally, you can even share a collection with your friends or the general public by generating a special share URL for it. You need a Premium account to create and edit a collection, but anyone you send the shared URL to does not have to be Premium, or to even have a dynamicWatch account yet.
