A key feature of the dwMap Premium Companion App is that you can send routes directly to dwMap Premium running on your Garmin watch, and this works whether your phone has an Internet connection or not.
- The first time you use the app on the phone, select Find connected Garmin devices on the main menu.
This will connect to the Garmin Connect Mobile app on your phone to get a list of the Garmin devices that you have setup in it.
- To send a route, tap on it in the routes list to see its preview, then on the preview's menu you should see an option "Send to [your watch name]". Tap on that option and the app will use Garmin Connect Mobile to send the route to the dwMap Premium app running on that watch.
- The dwMap Premium app can be running or not on the watch when you send the route. If it is running, it will say Received on the watch face. It it is not running, it will receive and use the sent route when you next start it.
- Vivoactive 3 users report that you must start the dwMap app before sending the route, otherwise the watch may lock-up (and need to be powered-off). We have not heard of this happening on any other watch.
